Flashback: Richard Nixon Trashes ‘Media-Elitist Complex’

Say what you will of Richard Milhous Nixon — I wouldn’t describe him as anything remotely like a personal hero of mine — but the man understood the mechanics of power. Given that the corporate state media of his day largely did him in with Watergate, and granted his seemingly naturally endowed paranoia (some might say rightly so) with respect to his political enemies, it’s not surprising he had the following words — shockingly accurate for the time they were uttered (1983) — regarding what he called the “media elitist complex.” (What’s also not surprising, but scandalous, is that public schoolchildren will never be treated to these words; the only factoid they’ll learn about Richard Nixon, if they learn anything at all, is that he was a crook, as if he somehow stood out as uniquely morally deficient in the long legacy of not just immoral but in many cases outright criminal American presidents.) “[The media] have much more power than most people would like to think. When we think of the media in this country, the problem is that they have a sense of self-righteousness, a double standard on issue after issue after issue. They can find everything wrong with somebody else, but they will not look inside and ever admit that they could be wrong themselves. And what was involved here in the Watergate thing was the unfairness of it… They allowed their advocacy to get ahead of their reporting, which is their job to do. You know, President Eisenhower, in his farewell address, wrote about and warned against the power of the military-industrial complex. I didn’t get a chance to make a farewell address, but when I get old enough and decide to retire… if I make a farewell address, I think I would warn against the media-elitist complex… I think we ought to hear a little bit of discussion of the imperial media and its power. WATCH: White House Spokesman, MSNBC Openly Cheerlead War With Iran

Following an attack on U.S. military assets in Jordan — allegedly conducted by militias allegedly sponsored by Iran (let’s not take the government’s word for anything) — Morning Joe Scarborough and his sidepiece, Mika (nepo-daughter of notorious neocon Zbigniew Brzezinski), while interviewing White House war propagandist John Kirby, brow aesthetically well-furrowed to convey earnest resolve, had some fighting words for Iran: “Morning Joe: I think a lot of Americans want to know: if the Iranians continue to sponsor attacks that kill Americans, that wound Americans, that cause serious problems for Americans and undermine American interests in the region, at what point do we actually go after the source of the attacks, Iran, and strike them where they are? Kirby: Well, I think that I certainly understand Americans’ concern over these repeated attacks by groups that are backed by Iran, Joe… We’re gonna respond. We’ll do that. Obviously, we have three American families that got the worst possible news over the weekend… We’ve got to do what we have to do to protect our troops and our facilities… We know Iran’s backing these groups… We gotta do what we have to do.” Speaking from the White House podium earlier today, Kirby further refused to rule out a strike on Iranian soil, nor would he agree to consult Congress pursuant to Constitutional requirements before launching such an attack that would inevitably lead to regional and likely world war. Here’s a novel concept: how about, if the goal is reducing American troop deaths in the Middle East, the government simply removes them from the Middle East and sends them home — like to the bleeding border, perhaps — instead of cynically using their deaths to create more war, which will lead to more troop deaths, which will then be used to create more war? Of course, though, waging peace won’t pad the bottom line of Nikki Haley’s benefactor, Boeing, nor would it enhance the power of the national security state. So that’s dead in the water. These people — Morning Joe and his sidepiece and the vaunted Admiral John Kirby with the furrowed brow of patriotic vigilance — are adult children meddling with forces they do not understand, made even more dangerous by an endowment with a god complex, as they are never truly challenged by any independent media. They exist in their own ivory towers of hubris, insulated from the kinetic consequences of their decisions. The major moral hazard here is that these people will incur no direct cost to their health or their finances from starting a new war any more than they did with any of the prior wars they started. It won’t be them or their kids that die. In fact, it’s all upside, as their weapons contractor stocks will spike tremendously. A one-on-one war with Iran would be nearly impossible to win (however “victory” is defined). Mere regime change — running a coup — is not enough to declare victory, as evidenced by the colossal failures in Iraq and Afghanistan, the former of which birthed ISIS and the latter of which saw the Taliban walk right back through the door into power twenty years later, picking up right where it left off in 2001, trillions of dollars and thousands of dead U.S. soldiers later, as the corrupt and despised Afghani military the US government propped up, armed to the teeth with hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of military equipment, folded like a cheap lawn chair at the first hint of a stress test. Metamorphosis

This confession has meant nothing.” -Bret Easton Ellis, American Psycho I was discussing recently with my friend, radio host Hrvoje Moric, the utility (or lack thereof) of watching government media briefings, which I sometimes do. His position was that it’s essentially a waste of time because all that government propagandists do is… propaganda; misdirection; deception. There is no veritas to be extracted from their utterings. My position is that its utility is, in fact, extremely limited in terms of extracting actual information. Nonetheless, it shines a light on what the regime is thinking and what kind of narrative tracks it’s trying to lay down to accomplish its schemes. And, I wonder, when they find themselves alone in the bathroom at night, staring into the mirror, considering what revocations of freedom they facilitated that day or what extrajudicial government killings they justified from their podiums, just them and their thoughts — no cameras to lie to — what goes through those heads of theirs? They must know well — they wouldn’t be effective at doing their job if they weren’t aware on some level in their own Orwellian double-think way — that their entire purpose is to promulgate the lies of their bosses in the service of bankrupting the middle class, destroying the planet, starting new wars, wreaking biomedical terror, etc. Are their feeling minds/souls so numbed by postmodernism and psychotropic drugs that they aren’t capable of feeling normal human emotions like shame or regret any longer? Or are they truly capable of monstrously extreme feats of self-delusion? Or have they simply succumbed to their roles as villains and embraced them? Some, of course, may have been psychopaths from the start. Others ease into it until it becomes second-nature. Not much else need be said for the former category; psychopaths are going to behave as psychopaths. Lying for money and the limelight, killing and maiming people in the process, and leaving a legacy of desecration in their wake, is par for the course. But, for the latter category, I imagine the metamorphosis is something along the lines of homeless people slowly acquiescing to lives spent mired in filth and shredded sleeping bags next to shopping carts, their only possessions, on the streets. It’s a gradual thing. You get an internship. You climb the ladder. Things escalate. You wake up neck-deep in bullshit. These people are politicians without any of the celebrity; who would opt for that career track? The State Department spokesman in the above video, for instance, Vedant Patel, graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in biology before immediately launching into a position as Deputy Communications Director for a Congressman. This dissonance between his education and his job straight out of college tells me this wasn’t a planned career trajectory. Perhaps a family connection with a personal connection hooked him up. He took the opportunity, discovered he was capable of lying fluidly with a straight face devoid of any conscience pangs, and things progressed from there. Then I wonder what his parents must think when they watch his performances on television, telling government lies for a living. They must know what their child looks like when he’s lying. Do they not feel deep shame? Or is that all rationalized away? If my son came to me one day and told me he was taking a job as a shill for the State Department — one of the most pernicious and banally evil institutions in world history — I would be forced to examine where I went wrong. In any case, the lot of them are profoundly warped people, arguably as worthy of pity as they are of contempt. Obviously, the non-domestic-terrorist interpretation of Kerry’s words is that dismissing out of hand the policy preferences of a duly elected leader in a “democracy” is in no way contradictory to the elites’ professed deep and abiding appreciation for Democracy™. Another totalitarian Davos girl, Naomi Oreskes, issued a similar pledge to clamp down on any dissent related to the war on carbon, the essential building block of life. This will include opposing infrastructure that will lock in fossil-fuel energy for decades to come and carbon capture and storage projects that are adjuncts to fossil-fuel production. We are already seeing examples, such as the false claim that off-shore wind kills whales and that restrictions on gas stoves are the latest excuse by liberals to control our lives and deny our freedom. Scientists will have to work with climate activists to block the spread of such misleading narratives.” What the lady meant to say was “government censors” will be necessary to censor dissenting views, but the euphemisms “scientists” and “climate activists” have a much more palatable ring to them for the liberals she appeals to. Fed Nazis Re-Emerge in New York For Flaccid, Uninspired Parade

“Patriot Front,” the notorious Aryan-American brigade of approximately two dozen “Nazis” (feds + a couple of autistics + an ADL stage director or two to harmonize the goosestepping), has re-emerged on the streets of New York — this time bearing a truly on-the-nose message for the Jews: “NO ZIONISTS IN GOVERNMENT” Subtlety is not their art. The saddest bit of video I’ve perhaps ever seen comes around the 4:00 mark, as the fed handler instructs his charges to stand in single-file line as they attempt to navigate the subway gate system. It looks more like an elementary school field trip than domestic terrorist insurgence; the only prop missing was the multi-person human leashes teachers use to keep the kids corralled. In standard virtue-signaling fashion, the WEF technocrats recruited an alleged Indigenous Lady of Color™ (ILOC) called Chief Putanny Yawanawá in red facepaint, embodying some enlightened and esoteric spiritual tradition, to “bless” a set of panelists. Mystic Putanny — plucked from an obscure hunter-gatherer tribe in the Amazon, maybe, but just as plausibly from a Women’s and Gender Studies department at the local university — kicks things off with a jibber-jabber incantation that no one, perhaps including her, understands the meaning of. She then shuffles from panelist to panelist, festooned in her exotic getup, heaving her microbes all over their receptive, grateful faces — no masks, no “six feet to stop the spread.” (For the record, Warlord Fauci admitted in non-televised Congressional testimony that his “six feet” social distancing woo-woo was a pseudoscientific fantasy, dreamt up in his degenerate head to maximize COVID terror.) Indigenous voices are thus vital in adding a perspective that prioritizes long-term thinking and human experiences. Indigenous leaders from around the world are attending World Economic Forum’s 2024 Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland to share their unique perspectives in charting a way forward… Putanny Yawanawá is an indigenous leader and wife of Chief Nixiwaka Yawanawá. She is one of the the first women of the Yawanawá nation to receive the highest spiritual initiation from the elders. She is a respected spiritual leader, opening the way into this sacred path for other Yawanawá women and setting precedent for such breaks in tradition*. For this achievement, she has received a commendation from the Brazilian senate as recognition of their important role in Brazilian women’s empowerment. Putanny is dedicated to representing her people’s ancestry. She also resides in the Sacred Village, where she organizes spiritual retreats.” *So, Lady Putanny is ostensibly there at Davos because she represents a sacred traditional indigenous whatever, yet she’s also there because she’s a non-traditional feminist bucking the orthodoxy of her patriarchal tribe. That’s called “having your cake and eating it too.” Here’s the chief’s website where she advertises her “spiritual retreats.” Upon a brief query, one discovers that this Chief Putanny character has actually quite the digital footprint marketing her services, as one might expect an enlightened guru transcending the material realm to. Chief Punani was presumably well-compensated for her WEF performance in the service of laundering its crimes through her indigenous-washing ritual. Her business opportunities have likely expanded greatly following her invitation to such a prestigious platform. So, good for her. However, whatever sacred ancient culture this mystic lady purportedly represents, the WEF will stamp it out in good time as it spreads its monoculture across the planet like cancer. As tends to happen on a long enough timeline, I have discovered another cliché to embrace: the internet optimizer Reddit nootropic bro. I’ve got myself what they call a “stack.” My wife thinks it’s a problem. I hold that out as a possibility, because that’s how open-minded I am. (Why the government allows the publication of literature expounding the benefits of non-pharmaceutical, mostly natural supplements like these, I have no idea — at any rate, that’s a problem the pharmaceutical lobby will likely soon remedy.) Nihilism: A Hell of a Drug BEN BARTEE JAN 20

I’ve been doing Dr. Joe Dispenza’s online meditation work lately — because why not when I’ve hit a brick wall? — the overriding mantra of which is that personality (influenced by the past and associated emotions) creates personal reality. In so doing — in many hours at this point of solo meditation spent in self-induced blackness, just me and my thoughts — I’ve picked up on a curious disposition that I believe permeates like a social contagion our advertising-laden world: the inability to suspend disbelief just enough to get past my own nihilism and doubt, even for a moment. That incapacity manifests itself even when Joe enunciates truths I know innately to be true — like that if our thoughts can make us sick (psychosomatic illness), it’s equally possible they can make us well (aka the well-documented placebo effect). Even then, I still can’t fully silence the nagging little doubting nihilistic gremlin telling me it’s all New Age bullshit manufactured to move product, to assuage the anxieties of desperate rubes eager to hear soothing nothings whispered in their ears, to make the consumers with disposable income feel like they have a modicum of control over their lives. Thus, intellectual acknowledgment of truth does not translate into internalization and true change because there’s a firewall I haven’t managed yet to penetrate. Related: Bill Hicks and I Have Some Life Advice For Marketers Given the social milieu I was raised in, why wouldn’t I — or you —assume everyone is trying to sell me something as a first-order priority, irrespective of whether the product is comprised of quality ingredients, or materials, or ideas? Letting your guard down as a consumer, inundated as we are with clever and ever-ever-evolving schemes aimed at the subconscious to induce consumption, is an invitation to get sold a bill of goods. Indeed, more than the mere predictable product of it, deep skepticism is a survival mechanism in a culture steeped in advertising. I’m not here to bash capitalistic free markets — it’s possible there is no better workable system, and certainly not one of centralized economic control; opening up markets has pulled billions of people out of material poverty worldwide. Still, there is an undeniable psychological and social cost to monetizing everything, even spiritual enlightenment. And it’s ugly. The pragmatism of unbelief aside, believing in stuff, we are subtly, inexplicitly taught — is uncool. It’s so 1500. God’s dead. Trendies don’t believe in anything, except maybe fashion. The cool thing, so says pop culture, is to give up on finding any transcendence in anything and make that part of your identity, as a kind of based aesthetic. Then, to add insult to injury, the fake culture machine monetizes the apathy, decadence and self-indulgence that it fostered in the first place. There’s nothing monetizable or exploitable for social control that isn’t pushed by the power structure. Fat Propaganda Roundup: Sadistic American Diabetes Association Recommends Processed Sugar BEN BARTEE JAN 6

ADA’s sick 60-grams-of-sugar pickle recipe

The sadistic biomedical profiteers over at the American Diabetes Association, who benefit greatly (in fact, base their entire career on it) from increasing diabetes rather than solving it, have a recipe for “sweet and sour cucumbers” that contain 60 (!) grams of added processed sugar.

This is damn near criminal.

Diabetics should all, without exception, in perpetuity until their metabolic dysfunction is resolved and insulin sensitivity restored, be on either ketogenic or extremely low-carb diets. To the metabolically compromised, sugar is poison, and all the more so when it’s processed and unfiltered through fiber.

The liberating and inconvenient truth — to borrow a coin termed by the Climate Change™ cult — is that there is no physiological reason why type II diabetes can’t be fully reversed with the right information and a modicum of self-discipline. 

But then, if diabetics suddenly discovered their own power to heal themselves, the executives over at the ADA who make a killing off of the proliferation of disease might be forced to do an honest day’s work.

And that they would never abide. 

Fats circle the wagon at ‘FatCon’, emotionally support one another in their quest for self-acceptance or whatever

“There was art of fat bodies with apron bellies and stretch marks showing. Keychains that said "I am body goals" featuring bigger bodied people celebrating themselves.

There were racks of vibrant clothes that started with a size XL and went up from there. Clothes that people could actually try on and take home with them, a luxury if you are over a size 16.

I had arrived at Philly FatCon, a fat-focused convention for people to come as they are and celebrate their bodies…

The weekend offered panels such as "Fat, Happy, and Healed" and "Fat & Fashionable" where influencers, experts and brands shared personal experiences, as well as advice on topics from fashion to combating fatphobia…

There were wellness classes that ranged from breathe and flow yoga to dance classes like Twerk-lesque and "Free the Jiggle." The instructors were all plus size and made the classes modifiable for people who needed it.

Queen Nzinga, who taught the Twerk-lesque class, has been a dancer her entire life and had been told that, while she was talented, she was too fat — a remark that was received with nods of mutual understanding. Today, Queen is a burlesque dancer known as "Philly's Twerk Queen."

"We don't have places like this to just be fat in a room*," Queen shared with us. "We are the 'normal bodies.' America's fat. And people love fat people** — but that isn't broadcasted enough. There is another side to fat, where people live out loud."”

*Occam’s razor dictates that the simplest answer is usually the correct one. Perhaps the reason they don’t fit in rooms is because they are about three times larger than the average-sized human.

Alice in Wonderland had a whole bit about this back in the day.

Secondly, no one “loves fat people” per se, as this lady claims. Save for the tiny subset of the population afflicted with a sexual fetish, if a person loves someone fat, it’s in spite of their obesity, not because of it.

These people don’t even love themselves, because they know they are aesthetically displeasing and patently unhealthy — two no-gos for evolution-driven attraction. You can’t beat millions of years of well-honed survival instincts.

Consider the slew of “affirming” iconography and sloganeering on display in the above article, which gives the game away.

These people are not proud of anything. If they were, they wouldn’t need a convention packed full of their whalelike peers to try to convince themselves that they are.

What they are trying to achieve is collective self-delusion insulated safely from reality in their #bodypositive bubble. But, again, you can’t beat natural selection. Weighing in excess of 400 pounds is never going to be “sexy” or “empowering,” and deep inside they know it. They will never attain the self-delusion they pursue so doggedly — a peculiar form of tragedy.

If any one of these fats could snap their fat fingers and turn into a healthy-sized human, they’d ditch their so-called “community” faster than you can say “Little Debbie.”
