Another Near-Miss at the DNC on January 6?

Former Capitol Police chief stated that a member of House leadership was at the DNC on January 6. Who was it and how did police again fail to discover the alleged explosive in plain sight? The unraveling of the January 6 pipe bomb story, which has the attention of some Republicans in Congress, now threatens to unravel the carefully crafted narrative about what happened on that infamous day. The identity of the individual who planted alleged explosive devices outside the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee remains one of the biggest unsolved mysteries about January 6. The lack of interest in the story by the corporate media and the January 6 select committee—their final report barely mentions the incidents—heightens suspicions that the “pipe bomb” story represents yet another manufactured stunt rather than posing a legitimate danger to the lives of Capitol Hill employees, passersby, and, more importantly, a sitting U.S. senator and incoming vice president of the United States. Upgrade to paid Security video and reporting published recently by Darren Beattie at Revolver News show law enforcement’s inexplicably lax reaction to the discovery of an explosive device right outside the DNC shortly after 1:00 p.m. on January 6, which coincided with the start of the joint session of Congress to review the Electoral College results at the Capitol just a few blocks away. An individual carrying a backpack appeared to notify Secret Service and D.C. Metropolitan police officers, who were serving as part of Kamala Harris’s security detail and sitting in parked SUVs in the building’s driveway, about the existence of the device. Beattie noted the odd reaction of these officers, especially considering their high-profile protectee was then inside the building and children were walking within feet of the alleged explosive. Beattie on law enforcement’s excuse: “The Secret Service was notified of the presence of an explosive device within feet of themselves, the Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, whom they’re supposed to protect, and children and other passersby, and we are supposed to believe that the officials did nothing because they didn’t want to cause panic! ” A few days after Beattie released his report, Rep. Tom Massie (R-Ky.) told Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) on Gaetz’s podcast that Capitol Police confirmed that the individual who discovered the device was a Capitol police officer. “I learned that backpack guy, January 6 backpack guy not to be confused with January 5 backpack person [alluding to a person the FBI’s claims planted the bombs on January 5] … was a non-uniformed, you know, plain clothes police officer in the employ of Capitol Hill police,” Massie told Gaetz on January 30. Jan 6 Committee Knew While Massie is the first to reveal the information on a public platform, that fact has been known to members and investigators on the January 6 select committee for more than two years. Sean Gallagher, head of the Capitol Police’s Protective Services Bureau, told the committee during his January 2022 interview that the person who found the device worked for him. “[We] started working on the suspicious package over at the RNC first where our teams identified the pipe bomb,” Gallagher testified, referring to the device discovered near the RNC headquarters around 12:45 p.m. “And then a little later, one of my counterintelligence teams that was doing enhanced sweeps around the DNC found a pipe bomb at the DNC as well.” As chief of the Protective Services Bureau, Gallagher also oversaw the section of Capitol Police responsible for protecting members of Congress. The Dignitary Protection Division—who knew Congress’ police force has a bureaucratic hierarchy that rivals the U.S. military?—“is all of our plainclothes agents who provide personal protection for the congressional leadership or any threat-driven details,” Gallagher told the committee. But Gallagher left off what seems like an important detail in his account of January 6: the presence of one of his protective details at the DNC at the same time the alleged explosive device was lying in wait. According to his 2023 book, Courage Under Fire, former Capitol Police chief Steven Sund disclosed that two security details were at the DNC that day. “Officers are sent to canvass the area around the Democratic National Committee Building as a precaution,” Sund wrote in describing his department’s reaction to the discovery of the device near the RNC. “There are two protective details at the DNC—one for Vice President-elect Harris and the other for a member of House leadership—and we can’t take any chances.” Sund did not divulge the name of the member of leadership. But according to Capitol sources, only a few House leaders receive security details: the Speaker of the House, the House majority leader, the House minority leader, and the whips of both parties. So, who was at the DNC with Kamala Harris when the bomb was sitting right outside? Thanks to her filmmaker daughter who caught it all on camera, we know Nancy Pelosi was moving about the Capitol all day. That leaves then-House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and then-Majority Whip James Clyburn as the only other possibilities. Who Else Was in Danger? Which raises more troubling questions about the so-called “pipe bomb” threat. How did yet another security detail miss this device? Congressional security teams obviously are not as load-heavy and road-tested as Secret Service details, but how did Capitol police—presumably highly experienced officers responsible for the safety of top congressional leaders—also not see what clearly appeared to be a pipe bomb propped up on a bed of twigs and dead leaves in plain view? Especially one that the FBI claimed had been planted the night before? What makes the situation even stranger is that both Hoyer and Clyburn were present at the start of the joint session at 1:00 p.m. Were they at the DNC earlier to meet with Harris or was it someone else? (Harris, on the other hand, remained at the DNC after the joint session convened, leaving only after she was evacuated.) And just as there is a strange lack of outrage over a supposed crazed MAGA bomber nearly assassinating the incoming vice president—indeed, the first person of color and woman to hold the office—this very important story has been completely overlooked by the media and January 6 investigators. Why did Gallagher not disclose this to the committee when he testified? Further, why is the unidentified House Democrat still silent on the matter? This silence mirrors that of Kamala Harris, who has never mentioned her brush with death after more than three years. And as I pointed out here, top Biden officials including Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray also never seem to mention what could have been a deadly tragedy on January 6. Are they also unaware that a top Democratic congressman almost endured the same near-fate as Harris? ‘The January 6 pipe bombs are 100% a hoax and 100% a cover-up’ All of this seems to support what Beattie contends, which is “the January 6 pipe bombs were an operation and that the investigation into these bombs was in fact a cover-up.” It’s one thing to be led to believe that passersby, the Secret Service, and D.C. police all overlooked a rather conspicuous object on January 6. But it’s quite another leap to believe a separate security detail, in charge of one of the top Democrats in Congress, also missed it. So, what gives? We still don’t know why Harris went to the DNC when an email indicated she was supposed to go to her residence at 11:25 a.m. after she left the Capitol following a Senate Intelligence committee briefing. 'Disturbing' Collusion Between Biden White House and Trump Prosecutors

An explosive defense motion filed in the classified documents case detailed extensive collaboration between prosecutors and top Biden officials to get Trump. But what does Jack Smith want to hide? JULIE KELLY JAN 27 Before the appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith in November 2022, Joe Biden’s Department of Justice was in the process of conducting two separate criminal investigations into Donald Trump: his attempts to “overturn” the 2020 election and his alleged mishandling of sensitive government files. Smith took over both matters to demonstrate the DOJ’s “independence” from politics, the public was told, although he took with him prosecutors and investigators already assigned to the existing inquiries. His team continues to insist their work is devoid of any influence from or cooperation with the Biden regime. Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland say the same. But as Smith prepares for trial in Washington and southern Florida, defense attorneys have uncovered a stunning trove of evidence that contradict claims that the Biden White House had nothing to do with the unprecedented federal prosecution of a former president and Biden’s GOP rival in the 2024 general election. Emerging evidence also shows collaboration between White House officials and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ office related to her RICO indictment against Trump and several associates. Key Biden Officials in Cahoots from Day One According to a lengthy defense motion filed January 16 in the classified documents case in Florida, the “disturbing” collusion extended beyond Biden’s in-house lawyers and involved multiple government agencies dating back to January 2021. Those agencies include the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), the National Security Council, the FBI’s Counterintelligence division, the intelligence community, the Secret Service, and the Department of Energy. Defense attorneys representing Trump and his two co-defendants Waltine Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira used Freedom of Information Act requests to obtain 155 pages of communications between government officials, which are attached in heavily redacted form to the defense motion. (Judge Aileen Cannon, as customary, issued a protective order early in the case that required both sides to file sensitive materials under seal until she can determine whether to unseal them.) “The FOIA releases, coupled with other evidence scattered throughout more than 1.2 million pages of discovery, reflect close participation in the investigation by NARA and Biden Administration components such as the White House Counsel’s Office, as well as senior officials at DOJ and FBI. These revelations are disturbing but not surprising,” the attorneys wrote. Perhaps most disturbing, and not “surprising” but jaw-droppingly shocking, is it appears the DOJ has misrepresented the origins of the classified documents investigation. The DOJ claimed the FBI opened an investigation into Trump’s mishandling of classified files in March 2022 only after the National Archives discovered papers with “classified markings” contained in 15 boxes of materials Trump turned over to the agency in January 2022. But correspondence indicates that Biden’s White House Office of Records Management and NARA’s general counsel discussed what defense attorneys described as “exaggerated claims related to records handling under the [Presidential Records Act]” shortly after Biden took office. One redacted passage seems to indicate that NARA drafted a criminal referral related to an alleged violation of the Presidential Records Act and notified Biden’s DOJ months before the archives received the 15 boxes and at the same time Trump’s representatives were working with the archives on which files to return. A redacted portion of the motion referred to “Deputy White House Counsel Jonathan Su,” apparently in regard to Su’s communications with NARA’s general counsel in the fall of 2021. Another passage cited unknown actions taken by “the Biden administration” after an email exchange with NARA’s lawyer. A Timeline That Contradicts the Official Narrative The paper trail also confirms that NARA communicated with Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, a longtime Obama loyalist appointed by Biden to essentially run the DOJ, before the criminal referral was officially transmitted by the NARA inspector general on February 9, 2022. “In January 2022, NARA communicated with White House Counsel and senior DOJ officials regarding the 15 Boxes, and then acted at the direction of those components by providing details to NARA-OIG, the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community, and the FBI,” the defense attorneys wrote. One email shows NARA contacted Thomas Windom, an assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, one week before the referral was sent to the DOJ, asking to arrange a call to discuss the “Potential Destruction of Presidential Records.” Windom is now Jack Smith’s lead prosecutor in the January 6/2020 election case. Before the FBI reportedly opened the investigation, Biden White House officials were in constant communications with NARA. In a text sent to a colleague on February 28, 2022, William Bosanko, NARA’s chief operating officer, said “the 15 boxes from mar-a-lago (sic) had consummed (sic) all of our discussions” with the White House. Defense attorneys also want records related to attempts by Biden’s Department of Energy, run by hyper-partisan Jennifer Granholm, the former Democratic governor of Michigan, to retroactively terminate Trump’s security clearance. A memo still under seal dated June 28, 2023 indicates the Energy Department “sought to ‘modif[y]’ the inconvenient truth that the agency possessed records showing that President Trump still maintained a security clearance,” defense attorneys wrote. The memo was written three weeks after Smith indicted Trump for unlawfully retaining national defense information. “[Evidence] of post-presidential possession of a valid security clearance between 2021 and 2023 also supports potential arguments, which President Trump is entitled to explore based on existing evidence, concerning good-faith and non-criminal states of mind relating to possession of classified material.” Defense attorneys also want records that explain the involvement of the intelligence community; Biden appointed Avril Haines, another Obama loyalist and close friend of Monaco’s—Haines, Monaco, and former National Security Advisor Susan Rice are often described as “Obama’s sisters”—the director of national intelligence in early 2021. Haines and Monaco helped concoct the Trump-Russia election collusion hoax in 2016. Now Haines is overseeing the “classification review” of all documents seized at Mar-a-Lago. Letters, Meetings With Fulton County Prosecutors While the Biden regime worked behind-the-scenes to initiate the classified documents case—after all, Biden appointee Merrick Garland personally approved the unprecedented FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago, a decision that involved other political appointees—White House officials at the same time were collaborating with Willis’ ongoing investigation into the 2020 election. Records show Nathan Wade, Willis’ alleged lover retained by her office and paid at least $640,000 for his work on the Trump prosecution team, met with Biden White House officials twice in 2022, including the same day Garland announced the special counsel appointment. During a court hearing on Thursday in Fulton County for defendant Jeffrey Clark, a prosecutor further admitted that Willis’ office received two letters from the White House counsel. While the prosecutor claimed the correspondence pertained to “logistics and procedures” related to potential witnesses, Judge Scott McAbee sounded skeptical. He ordered the letters filed under seal so he can review in private. Smith, for his part, also wants several documents to remain under wraps. Claiming the defense motion is “replete with mischaracterizations and baseless arguments.” Smith asked Judge Cannon to continue to seal key exhibits including the draft criminal referral composed in 2021; the identity of an agent from “FBI Headquarters” who attended the pre-raid meeting on August 1, 2022; and testimony that apparently refutes Smith’s allegations that Trump aides moved boxes to evade FBI detection. He asked for heavy redactions on at least two dozen other documents. Cannon, unlike her judicial counterpart in Washington, is unlikely to consent to Smith’s every demand. She has unsealed filings that Smith sought to keep under seal and early in the process indicated her preference to make court documents public with special exceptions. If Cannon permits the unsealing of most of the exhibits the defense filed, the Biden White House will have another major crisis on its hands. But a bigger question remains: why was she there? JULIE KELLY JAN 22 Kamala Harris once again was on the verge of making political history. Already a trailblazer—the first woman of color in California elected both state attorney general and U.S. Senator—Harris’ colleagues on the afternoon of January 6 were poised to begin the process of certifying her election as the first female vice president. Harris, a shameless attention hog, presumably would’ve spent the hours leading up to the historic moment walking the halls of Congress to relish the sucking-up of friends and enemies alike. Reporters presumably would have tracked Harris’ movements to document for the history books a full accounting of how the first incoming “Madame Vice President” prepared for the ceremonial event. Perhaps she would have posed for a few endearing photos with the incoming Second Gentleman. But oddly, that was not the case. Rather than bask in the limelight of her pending coronation, Harris, for reasons still unknown, left the Capitol around 11:25 a.m. on January 6. She had attended a closed door briefing of the Senate Intelligence committee—the only other official business on the Congressional calendar that day—and headed off campus. Her destination? The headquarters of the Democratic National Committee, just a few blocks away. And it wasn’t just a quick stop to make a few fundraising calls: Harris remained in the building until 1:15 p.m.—which was after the joint session of Congress convened to debate the Electoral College results—leaving only when evacuated following the discovery of an explosive device outside. Harris has never explained why she went to the DNC that morning. In fact, she has gone out of her way to avoid the question entirely. But recent reporting by Darren Beattie at Revolver News that shows law enforcement’s nonchalant response to the discovery of the “pipe bomb” located within striking distance of a sitting U.S. senator and incoming vice president raises new questions about Harris’ decision to go to the DNC rather than stay behind to participate, or at least observe, the historical proceedings. Not only did Metropolitan Police and Secret Service agents appear unconcerned by the presence of the pipe bomb at the time, but Harris’ behavior ever since belies the seriousness of the situation, one the FBI insisted could have caused death and destruction. A Nonstop Talker Stops Talking While the interminably bombastic Harris continues to act as one of the biggest promoters of J6 fiction, comparing the brief disturbance to Pearl Harbor and 9/11, she is inexplicably quiet about one of the most consequential aspects of January 6. After all, the pipe bomb threat prompted the first wave of panic in the city, forced the reallocation of law enforcement resources, and initiated the lockdown of nearby offices. (A separate device allegedly was found about a half hour earlier near the headquarters of the Republican National Committee.) News reports circulated immediately thereafter. Rep. Elaine Luria announced on Twitter at 1:46 p.m. that she “just had to evacuate my office because of a pipe bomb reported outside.” But strangely, Harris omitted her near-death experience at the hands of a MAGA bomber in a tweet posted a few hours later: Perhaps too traumatized to relive the experience, Harris also didn’t speak of the incident the next day during a six-minute speech condemning the January 6 “attack” and promising that the “rule of law” would prevail. The very public supporter of BLM rioters in 2020 wasted no time playing the race card; Harris suggested J6ers were being treated more favorably than those who tried to burn down the nation’s capital and the Trump White House in honor of George Floyd just seven months earlier. “We witnessed two systems of justice when we saw one that let extremists storm the United States Capitol and another that released tear gas on peaceful protesters last summer,” Harris, showing no sign of emotional strain at being nearly blown apart the previous day, said during an event with Joe Biden on January 7, 2021. But no warning about the white supremacist bomber still on the loose. In the three years since, Harris has maintained her silence with the help of the national news media. Not a single reporter is on record asking Harris or her office about the incident despite dozens of interviews and public appearances since January 6. A Collective Coverup The Department of Justice has helped keep the incident under wraps, too. For nearly a year, prosecutors lied in hundreds of charging documents by claiming Harris was inside the Capitol that day, which rendered the building and grounds a “restricted” area. (The alleged presence of Harris and former Vice President Mike Pence, both protectees of the U.S. Secret Service on January 6, has been used as the basis for thousands of trespassing charges. I explain here.) Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray also never mention the fact that Harris almost lost life and limb on January 6. In an announcement earlier this month reminding the public of a $500,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the pipe bomber, FBI officials again omitted Harris’ name. “Although these bombs did not detonate, it is important to remember the suspect walked along residential and commercial areas in Capitol Hill just blocks from the U.S. Capitol with viable pipe bombs that could have seriously injured or killed innocent bystanders,” the Washington FBI field office said in a January 4, 2024 statement. Apparently possibly “injuring” or “killing” the soon-to-be vice president isn’t a big deal to the FBI. That same day, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves gave an hour-long presentation to rehash his criminal investigation into the events of January 6. Graves made only a passing reference to the pipe bombs and, like his DOJ colleagues, did not mention the lethal threat to Harris. This is unusually odd since Graves’ wife, Fatima Goss Graves, is good friends with the vice president; Harris’ niece, Meena, is on the board of directors of Goss Graves’ nonprofit. So, the identity of the pipe bomber isn’t the only mystery surrounding what was the earliest animating event of January 6. As Beattie asked in his piece: Why on earth would Kamala Harris keep her presence in the DNC building a secret? It would seem like the story of the first woman of color Vice President elect in history coming within feet of the deadly pipe bombs of the January 6 insurrection would be a headline that both Kamala and the regime media would be interested in milking for all it is worth. Could Kamala have covered up her presence at the DNC in order to keep attention away from the fact that the Secret Service was at the DNC building and thus keep the public in the dark about the fact that the Secret Service missed the pipe bombs in their sweep and reacted with suspicious nonchalance when ultimately informed of the bomb? Or is there a still more sinister explanation for this otherwise inexplicable cover-up? Since this scandal deals with January 6, it is safe to assume a much more “sinister” explanation at play. Beattie hinted that the Secret Service may have had “foreknowledge” about the DNC device. Did Kamala Harris know ahead of time, too? Declassified with Julie Kelly is a reader-supported publication. First, a man named Ryan Samsel, after taking some sort of direction from Ray Epps, overran a thin line of police and metal racks in what would be the first official breach of Capitol grounds around 12:50 p.m. Joining Samsel were members of the Proud Boys and a still-unknown number of FBI informants. Around the same time, a woman named Karlin Younger who just happened to be walking to a laundry facility near the Republican National Committee headquarters just happened to look down and see what she believed was a pipe bomb nestled between a dumpster and a fence right next to the building. Both events fueled panic in the nation’s capital just as a contentious meeting to certify the Electoral College vote in the 2020 presidential election got underway in the chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives. Then, the news got worse. Capitol police reportedly discovered another explosive outside the DNC headquarters. The New York Times immediately broke the story: “The device that was found at the R.N.C. was a pipe bomb that was successfully destroyed by a bomb squad, according to an official for the R.N.C,” reporters Maggie Haberman, Michael Schmidt, and Katie Benner wrote. “The package at the D.N.C. has yet to be identified, according to a top Democrat briefed on the matter who was not authorized to speak publicly about it.” The Times story went viral. At 1:53 p.m., Representative Elaine Luria tweeted that she “just had to evacuate my office because of a bomb reported outside, while the President’s anarchists are trying to force their way into the Capitol.” Capitol police the next day issued a statement. “The USCP Hazardous Materials Response Team determined that both devices were, in fact, hazardous and could cause great harm to public safety,” Steven Sund, the Capitol police chief wrote on January 7, the day he resigned from the force. “The devices were disabled and turned over to the FBI for further investigation and analysis.” During a press conference a few days later, Michael Sherwin, the acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, told reporters that law enforcement agencies, including the ATF and FBI, were collaborating to find the suspects who set the pipe bombs. The bombers would be “brought to justice,” promised Steven D’Antuono, the newly appointed head of the D.C. FBI field office, who warned that “every rock was being unturned” to apprehend the suspect or suspects. The FBI initially offered a $50,000 reward. But as the FBI successfully rounded up hundreds of Capitol trespassers using sophisticated tools such as geofence warrants, the trail of the pipe bomber went cold. Grainy footage released by the FBI purportedly showed the pipe bomber in action the night of January 5—the time the agency determined the bombs had been planted—and in March, D’Antuono asked for the public’s assistance in tracking down the bomber. Anyone who showed an interest in making explosives prior to January 5, 2021, or possessed galvanized pipe, wire, and “multiple kitchen timers” should be turned in to the FBI, D’Antuono said in a dramatic video message, even if the person was a relative or friend. But more than a year later, not only has a suspect not been identified or caught, the pipe bomb story gets weirder and weirder. Politico recently reported that Kamala Harris was inside the DNC headquarters at the same time the explosive sat outside the building. Harris, who inexplicably left the Capitol around 11:30 a.m. on January 6 after attending an intelligence briefing, choosing not to participate as a U.S. senator in the certification of her own historical election, was evacuated out of the DNC headquarters by the Secret Service at 1:14 p.m., several minutes after Capitol police inspected the building after the RNC bomb was found. That shocking revelation means one of two things: The Secret Service, in a security sweep of the DNC building and exterior grounds prior to her arrival, missed what the FBI insists was a viable explosive device—a scenario that seems deeply unlikely considering the city was in a state of heightened alert and agents presumably would be extra cautious. Or, the FBI is lying. Given what we know about the FBI’s politically motivated malfeasance during the Trump era, the likelihood the pipe bomb story was another FBI hoax instead of a legitimate threat becomes more conceivable each day. Which leads us to the woman who “found” the pipe bombs outside the RNC right just before the joint session gaveled in on January 6. Karlin Younger is described in news reports as a “resident” of D.C. or an employee of the Department of Commerce. But Younger’s résumé is a bit more detailed. On January 6, when she took a midday walk to the laundromat and found the first pipe bomb, Younger was a project manager for FirstNet Authority, a public-private partnership between AT&T and first responders to prioritize emergency communications during an attack or disaster. Standing board members for FirstNet include the attorney general and secretary of Homeland Security. Several federal agencies, including the Justice Department, use FirstNet services. And a few weeks before January 6, FirstNet received its largest-ever commitment from a law enforcement agency, a $92 million contract for FirstNet’s services. That agency was the FBI. Now, perhaps one could write off as coincidence Younger’s ties to a government-connected agency that just received a massive investment from the FBI. But in a media interview, Younger almost tipped her hand. “You’re on that edge of, ‘I don’t want to bother anybody . . . I want to make sure this is real, right?’” Younger told a Wisconsin television station on January 18, 2021. “You don’t want to go down as the person who evacuates a city block for a hoax but at the same time there was just enough of that gut instinct that said ‘this isn’t a place you would put a hoax.’” But of course, it was exactly where someone would perpetrate a hoax. (Younger has since left FirstNet and cofounded a security technology start-up firm.) Her work with a firm funded by the FBI deserves at least a few raised eyebrows. No one still trying to convince the public that two pipe bombs were planted near the Capitol in advance of January 6 can be believed. In fact, quite to the contrary, the public should automatically distrust anything out of the FBI. So, either the Secret Service missed the device in clear view outside the DNC headquarters that day before the arrival of Kamala Harris or there never was an explosive at either location and the FBI is not telling the truth.
