Is anyone surprised at this news?One of the dissonant rhymes of history is at this moment taking place in Venezuela. If you listen closely, you will be able to hear the repugnant sounds of a familiar oppression in Hugo Chavez' "socialist paradise."

He is clamping down on the press; he is nationalizing all the industry; he is threatening jail to anyone who opposes him. Things are beginning to fall apart, so the solution for thugs like Chavez is to just get more control. As once was pointed out to Darth Vader in a similar context, I believe, "The more you tighten your grip, the more people will slip through your fingers."

Like the 20th century's experiment with socialism/communism, the 21st's will only lead to even more poverty and misery. The smart ones escape while they still can (soon it will be forbidden, I'm sure).

You should also note that Communist China isn't lit up much either.

The regime in the north is so short of electricity that the whole country is switched off at 9 p.m. - apart from the capital of Pyongyang where dictator Kim Jong-il and his cohorts live in relative luxury. But even there, lighting is drastically reduced.

The result, as shown in this picture taken one night earlier this week, is a startling contrast between the blacked-out north and the south, which is ablaze with light, particularly around major cities and the capital, Seoul, in the north-west of the country.

How can they be short of power ? The infallible Presidents Clinton and Carter gave them Nuclear Reactors !?!

Mr Rumsfeld showed the picture to illustrate how backward the northern regime really is - and how oppressed its people are. Without electricity there can be none of the appliances that make life easy and that we take for granted, he said.

"Except for my wife and family, that is my favorite photo," said Mr Rumsfeld.

"It says it all. There's the south, the same people as the north, the same resources north and south, and the big difference is in the south it's a free political system and a free economic system.

"The people in the north are starving, their growth is stunted. It's a shame, a tragedy."

An aide added: "This oppressive regime is too busy trying to make war to make life comfortable for its people."

Comfortable for its people ? The Communists have allowed hundreds of thousands to starve to death and many millions more have suffered from chronic malnutrition. Make no Mistake, Socialism is Communism watered down for ignorant masses. Demoncrats embrace Socialism without having the guts to call it Socialism. Vote for Demoncrats, eventually the USofA will be a dark as North Korea. Don't believe that ? Then why do they block every attempt to make us energy independent ? The environment ? You're a real sucker if you buy that.

This one really confused me:

French demonstrators used May Day to voice opinions on France's upcoming referendum on the European Union constitution and the government's decision to cancel a traditional Monday that falls on May 16 this year.

How does one go about canceling a Monday ? Traditional or otherwise ?

'Organise Or Die'
What's with the "Do (fill in the blank) or die" rhetoric liberals (AKA:Communists) use lately ? Remember the "Vote Or Die" crap from the election ? I don't recall anyone dieing from not voting.

Organise or die. Even the bible says so: 'It is not good for any worker to stand alone'.

Where in the bible does it say that ? Always be wary of Communists quoting scripture.
