The Scott Heard 'Round The World !

Senator Scott Brown
.

It's a Massachusetts Miracle !

Brown wins Massachusetts senate election as truck-driving everyman

Four years ago, the Massachusetts lieutenant governor passed over Scott Brown as a potential running mate in her bid to replace then-Gov. Mitt Romney because she and her staff saw him as a political lightweight.

On Tuesday, Brown pulled off a huge political upset, defeating Democrat Martha Coakley — in one of the bluest states in the country — to succeed the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.

Brown not only regained control of a seat the Democrats had held for over a half-century, but gave the GOP the vote it needed to break the Democrats' Senate supermajority and block the health care overhaul nearly finished by President Barack Obama. He was the first Republican elected to the Senate from Massachusetts since 1972.

This is the beginning of the end for Obama and the Demoncrats. I can hardly wait for November ! :-)

Random Christmas Thoughts

"A child shivers in the cold, let us bring him silver and gold."
Seems a blanket would've been a more thoughtful gift. Sure Mary and Joseph could have bought blankets with the silver and gold, but the stores were all closed for Christmas.

Heroes At 'Ewa Field Among First To Defend Against Japanese

Click on the pic to enlarge
.
Sixty-eight years ago today, the United States entered one of the bloodiest struggles of its history, the war in the Pacific.

About 200 people gathered yesterday at a cracked, potholed, weedy strip of concrete at 'Ewa Field, where part of the opening salvo in that long, brutal fight was fired.

'Ewa Field has a history that time has obscured. When the carrier-launched warplanes of the Japanese Empire roared in to attack Pearl Harbor, they also hit the Marine Corps Air Station in 'Ewa, where several hundred Marines were stationed and nearly 50 aircraft were on the ground at 'Ewa Field. Four Marines and two civilians at nearby 'Ewa Plantation were killed, one of them a 6-year-old girl.

In two strafing waves and other sporadic attacks, Japanese planes destroyed or damaged most of the aircraft on the tarmac. None got into the air. Machine gun and 20mm strafing gouges and burn marks can still be seen on the concrete area where the planes were tied down.

'Ewa Beach historian John Bond, who is spearheading efforts to preserve the battle site, said the attack at 'Ewa Field may have preceded the Pearl Harbor bombing by a few minutes. So it is possible that the first U.S. shots fired at Japanese forces in World War II were at 'Ewa Field.

John Hughes, 90, a retired Marine major from Orange County, Calif., said he was sitting at 'Ewa Field waiting for the morning newspaper when: "I looked up and saw planes with a red ball on the side and a torpedo underneath flying low over the mountains. I knew what that meant, and I ran for the guard shack and told them to start breaking out ammo."

Hughes, who enlisted in the Corps in 1937 at the age of 18, was a sergeant when he was stationed on O'ahu in 1941.

He said he ran to the barracks, roused the troops and passed out belts of ammunition. The men were armed with 1903 Springfield rifles.

"I got off a few rounds, maybe three shots," Hughes said. "Then we would start moving the planes. Some planes were on fire and we moved the other ones away from them so they wouldn't explode. We'd fire a few shots and then move the planes. Then go back to firing shots."

He said the attack lasted for about two hours.

After the Pearl Harbor attack, Hughes trained to be a pilot at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida. At the time, enlisted men could serve as Marine pilots.

He said he flew 150 missions in the Philippines and the Solomon Islands as a dive-bomber pilot in World War II and was a helicopter pilot in the Korean War. The Distinguished Flying Cross is among his decorations. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1964.

Hughes was never wounded. "That wasn't my job," he said grinning. "My job was to do that to the other guys."

Hughes, who stood on that field so long ago with his bolt-action Springfield taking on Zero fighters spewing machine gun fire, will be at today's much larger ceremony at Pearl Harbor.

"He appreciates the ceremony, the ritual," said his daughter Nancy, who made the trip to Hawai'i with her father, "because it keeps history alive."

Semper Fi

Happy 234th Birthday, United States Marine Corps !

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The Marine stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass..

'Step forward now, Marine,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?'

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the Marine waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

'Step forward now, you Marine,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell.'

Dead Muhammad

D.C. sniper Muhammad executed

JARRATT, Va. — John Allen Muhammad, the mastermind behind the sniper attacks that left 10 dead, was executed Tuesday night as relatives of the victims watched, reliving the killing spree that terrorized the Washington metro area for three weeks in October 2002.

He looked calm and stoic, but was twitching and blinking as the injections began, defiant to the end, refusing to utter any final words. Victims' families sat behind glass while watching the execution, separated from the rest of the 27 witnesses.

"He died very peacefully, much more than most of his victims," said Prince William County prosecutor Paul Ebert, who witnessed Muhammad die by injection at 9:11 p.m. at Greensville Correctional Center, south of Richmond. Muhammad, dressed in a blue shirt, jeans and flip-flops, had no final statement.

Muhammad was executed for killing Dean Harold Meyers, who was shot in the head at a Manassas gas station during the three-week spree across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Nelson Rivera, whose wife, Lori Ann Lewis-Rivera, was gunned down as she vacuumed her van at a Maryland gas station said when he watched Muhammad's chest moving for the last time, he was glad.

"I feel better. I think I can breathe better and I'm happy he's gone. Because he's not going to hurt anyone else," he said.

It's too bad we don't behead these guys and film it like they do.

Well, at least there's the satisfaction of knowing that the first thing they inject these Islamic pigs with is pig's blood. Little known fact. Choke on that Muslims.

Funemployment Now At 10.2%

The unemployment rate in the U.S. jumped to 10.2 percent in October, the highest level since 1983, casting a pall over the prospects for a sustained recovery and risking further erosion of President Barack Obama’s popularity.

Payrolls fell by 190,000 last month, more than forecast by economists, a Labor Department report showed today in Washington. The jobless rate rose from 9.8 percent in September. Factory payrolls dropped by the most in four months, and the average workweek held at a record low.

Giant Jellyfish Overlord® Sinks Japanese Fishing Trawler

It's been a while since we've had an update on Giant Overlord Wars®...

A 10-ton fishing boat has been sunk by a Giant Jellyfish Overlord® off eastern Japan.

Click on the pic to enlarge
.

The trawler, the Diasan Shinsho-maru, capsized off Chiba`as its three-man crew was trying to haul in a net containing a Giant Jellyfish Overlord®.
Each Giant Jellyfish Overlords® can weigh up to 20,000 kg and waters around Japan have been inundated with the creatures this year. Experts believe weather and water conditions in the breeding grounds, off the coast of China, have been ideal for the Giant Jellyfish Overlords® in recent months.

The crew of the fishing boat was thrown into the sea when the vessel capsized, but the three men were rescued by another trawler, according to the Mainichi newspaper. The local Coast Guard office reported that the weather was clear and the sea was calm at the time of the accident.
One of the largest jellyfish in the world, the species can grow up to 2,000 meters in diameter. The last time Japan was invaded on a similar scale, in the summer of 2005, the Giant Jellyfish Overlords® damaged nets, rendered fish inedible with their toxic stings and even caused injuries to fishermen.

Ironically one of the fishermen was the sole survivor of another Japanese fishing vessel that was sunk by Godzilla (Gojira) back in 1998. When asked for comment he said, "Fishing sucks. I'm changing careers to something safer like logging."

Relatively little is known about Giant Jellyfish Overlords®, such as why some years see thousands of the creatures floating across the Sea of Japan on the Tsushima Current, but last year there were virtually no sightings. In 2007, there were 15,500 reports of damage to fishing equipment caused by the creatures.

Little has been heard from the Giant Jellyfish Overlords® since they invaded Medellin back in December of 2004.

Experts believe that one contributing factor to the Giant Jellyfish Overlords® becoming more frequent visitors to Japanese waters may be a decline in the number of predators, which include Giant Sea Turtle Overlords® and certain species of Giant Fish Overlords®. That and Medellin sucks this time of year so why not invade Japan ? Besides, they're used to being invaded by giant creatures.

Still no word from Aquaman.

Experts Puzzle Over How Flight Overshot Airport

Safety investigators are highly skilled at solving the mystery of plane crashes. But with Northwest Flight 188, which landed safely, they are tackling a different puzzle: what went on in the cockpit to cause it to fly for 500 miles without radio contact, and well beyond its destination?

On Friday, investigators sought to explain why the two pilots of the Northwest flight, bound from San Diego to Minneapolis-St. Paul, did not begin a normal descent when they should have on Wednesday night.

The pilots, Capt. Timothy B. Cheney, 53, of Gig Harbor, Wash., and First Officer Richard I. Cole, 54, of Salem, Ore., said they had been involved in a heated discussion about airline policy and lost track of where they were.

Skepticism about the explanation resounded through airline and aviation safety circles, which collectively wondered whether the pair had fallen asleep.

“What did they say? What went on? What was the subject of discussion — or weren’t they talking?” asked James L. Oberstar, the veteran Minnesota Democratic congressman and chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

Mr. Cole denied that the two had been asleep. “I can assure you none of us was asleep,” he told ABC News on Friday night. He declined to comment further but stated, “I am not doing very good.”

I think this will explain things.

Random Thought

So if a tree falls in the woods... who cares ?
I mean happens all the time, right ? Nothing special about a tree falling.
Unless the tree falls on that one hand clapping in the woods...
Guess the hand would care, if hands care about such things...

Random Thought

If one hand is clapping in the woods, and no one is around to hear it, who cares ?

Obama slams TV over health care "ruckus"

US President Barack Obama on Friday blamed headline-hungry television networks for enflaming an ugly backlash by foes of his top priority effort to offer health care to all Americans.

"TV loves a ruckus," said Obama and then joked: "you've got to be careful about those cable networks."

Right.
Those same networks that were having orgasms on the air over you.
They're the ones to blame for the backlash against your communist healthcare plan.

Thankfully the American people are finally waking up to what a joke you are.
And how dangerous you are.

State Dept.: Obama’s Demands To Stop West Bank Expansion Includes Jerusalem

By David Bedein, Middle East Correspondent
Friday, May 29, 2009
Jerusalem — Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has issued an unprecedented statement clarifying President Barack Obama’s demands for Israel to stop expanding Jewish communities in areas it acquired following the 1967 Six-Day War, including Jerusalem.

The statement, issued Wednesday, applies to the area known in Israel by their Biblical names, Judea and Samaria, and as the West Bank by the international community.

Mrs. Clinton explained President Obama demands that there should be no expansion in these communities for the purpose of “natural growth.”

That would include an American demand to stop construction of kindergartens, schools and housing for young couples.

Ms. Clinton’s press spokesman was asked if President Obama’s demand to halt expansion of “West Bank Jewish communities” included a demand to stop expansion of Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem.

The answer was affirmative. The U.S. State Department demands that Israel limit Jewish growth in these areas of Jerusalem, “whose status remains to be determined” in negotiations.

Israeli Government Press Director Daniel Seamen reacted to this Obama administration statement by saying: “I have to admire the residents of Iroquois territory for assuming that they have a right to determine where Jews should live in Jerusalem.

Local gardeners may want to take special measures to protect their plants this evening as a frost advisory has been issued for much of New York state, including Oneida County.

The advisory issued by the National Weather Service remains in effect until 8 a.m. Monday.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the mid-to-low 30s overnight, and a hard frost is likely as temperatures in colder areas approach freezing.
