The Amazon Creek
A boat makes tries to make its way through a section of the Amazon River suffering from lower water levels near Uricurituba, in northern Brazil, on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005. Four Brazilian cities in the Amazon have been declared disaster areas as a continuing drought has dried up rivers and cut off thousands of families from access to food and medicine, authorities said Monday, Oct 10, 2005.

Two Bloody Anniversaries
2000 - The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Cole was the target of a terrorist attack while refueling in Yemen. Al Qaeda militants rammed the vessel with a small boat loaded with 500 pounds of explosives. 17 crewmembers were killed and at least 39 were injured.
2002 - In Bali, Indonesia, over 180 people were killed and over 300 were injured when a bomb was detonated in a nightclub district.
Michelle Malkin says we're Pussyfooting around Islam.
She's right of course.
Indonesians Demand Death for Bali Bombers.
They should have let the mob have those animals.
Maybe after a few of them are torn limb from limb the rest will have second thoughts.

Researchers Insist That Centaurs Actually Existed
Alexander Guryev says that researchers have no whole centaur skeletons but lots of upper and lower parts of centaurs skeletons.
Uh huh.
The sad thing is, these people probably make more than you or I.
But they must be taken seriously ! After all, the Global Warming "Scientists" are taken seriously...

Shield Law Sponsor: Bloggers 'Probably Not' Considered Journos
I don't give a damn if I am considered a "reporter" or a "journalist".
I am an American Citizen expressing my opinion under the rights of the first amendment. I will continue to do so regardless of any "laws" they pass. Any "law" that prevents my free expression is inherently unconstitutional and therefore I will ignore it ! To hell with my former Senator Lugar or anyone else that tries to usurp my freedom of speech ! I will say on my Blog what I want to say, when I want to say it, how I want to say it, why I want to say it and where I want to say it ! Damn anyone that tries to take that right away from me or anyone else !
I will use my rights under the second amendment to protect my rights under the first amendment if need be.
Don't screw with the Constitution.
EVER

Learn How To Speak English !
Free speech is being attacked by liberals in Ohio. A bar owner, who believes, as I do, that immigrants should learn to speak English, has posted a sign that reads "For Service Speak English." Now the Ohio Civil Rights Commission has wrongly found the owner guilty of engaging in discriminatory practices.

Marzipan Babies
Marzipan is a paste made with ground almonds and sugar. It can be moulded into almost any shape you want, the shape is then sculpted and painted. The result is an edible decorative item.
The best part is they're edible ! Yummy !
Hat Tip: The Gray Tie.
Follow up 10/11/2005: They're not made of Marzipan and they're not edible.
They're 2- to 5-inch sculptures created by artist Camille Allen (including some entries from her Shell Baby line of miniatures), and they're made from Prosculpt polymer clay and mohair. Definitely not the kind of thing most of us would find palatable.
Source: Snopes
They still look yummy though.
This post has set the record for the most hits on this blog. I guess a lot of people want to eat babies !

Merkel Set To Take Over As German Chancellor
If Ms Merkel, 51, does become chancellor it would mark the pinnacle of a remarkable political career. After entering politics in 1990 she has risen through the CDU ranks despite opposition from traditionalists in the male-dominated party. In the 1990s she held ministerial portfolios for the family and the environment and became CDU leader in 2000. She would be Germany's first eastern German and first woman chancellor and the country's youngest post-war leader.
From Wikipedia:
Merkel supports a substantial reform agenda concerning Germany's economic and social system. Merkel is considered to be more pro-free market (and pro-deregulation) than her own party (the CDU); she has advocated changes to German labour law, specifically, removing barriers to firing employees and increasing the allowed number of work hours in a week, arguing that current laws make the country less competitive because companies cannot easily control labour costs at times when business is slow.
Merkel believes there should be a strong transatlantic partnership and German-American friendship. In the spring of 2003, defying strong public opposition, Merkel came out in favor of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, describing it as "unavoidable" and accusing Chancellor Gerhard Schröder of reactionary anti-Americanism. This led some critics to characterize her as an American lackey.
She opposes Turkish EU membership and favours a "privileged partnership", instead. In doing so, she is seen as being in unison with an overwhelming majority of Germans who reject Turkish membership in the European Union, particularly due to fears that large waves of immigration may impose an unbearable burden on Germany and that there would be too much Islamist influence within the EU.
She believes that the existing nuclear power stations should be phased out less quickly than advocated by the current government.
This is a good thing.

Unicef bombs the Smurfs in fund-raising campaign for ex-child soldiers
The short film pulls no punches. It opens with the Smurfs dancing, hand-in-hand, around a campfire and singing the Smurf song. Bluebirds flutter past and rabbits gambol around their familiar village of mushroom- shaped houses until, without warning, bombs begin to rain from the sky.
Tiny Smurfs scatter and run in vain from the whistling bombs, before being felled by blast waves and fiery explosions. The final scene shows a scorched and tattered Baby Smurf sobbing inconsolably, surrounded by prone Smurfs.
It's about time someone took out those little blue bastards ! I so want to see this video !
The final frame bears the message: "Don't let war affect the lives of children."
That line is as stupid as the Smurfs.
How the hell are you ever going to have a war that doesn't affect the lives of children ? That's just plain idiocy.
