I’m Amrita. 3 years ago, I decided to build my growth investment fund ProjectM.
I built the fund to fulfill my pursuit to study how the world’s financial markets and economies work and use the insights to invest in companies that are leading and/or benefiting from cross industry innovations such as AI and web3.
In the last 3 years, I have scaled my fund and consistently beat the index at a CAGR of 35%.
And so, I decided to share the learnings from my journey with you on this newsletter.
In this newsletter, I will the connect the dots in macroeconomics, technology and culture to develop frameworks that enable us to build perspectives on current matters with clarity, identify great businesses that will shape humanity and improve our financial and mental wellbeing to thrive in a better world tomorrow.
What to expect from The Pragmatic Optimist
Starting from Sep 11, 2023, you will receive 4 emails in a week from me with the following content
Monday Macro: I will write a data-driven summary on the latest macroeconomic prints and provide framework driven insights on how to think about the evolving global economic narrative.
Tuesday Trades: In this edition, I will present an investment principle/framework/cheatsheet that I use to identify businesses with strong competitive moats. Alternatively, I may occasionally deep dive into a company’s business model and valuation.
Thursday Dives: I will pick an evolving trend in society and/or technology and study it from first principles. I am always amazed at the accelerating pace of technology and its promise to boost productivity and living standards yet at the same time, there is often a disconnect in societies between the promise and the policies creating deep structural issues.
Friday Delight: Ending the week on an optimistic note, I will share a quick personal story, a creator I followed the past week, a podcast I listened to that inspired me, a visual that created an “aha” moment and a funny meme that made my week.
