Sunday Snack: The Color of NEXT Season, An Excellent Necklace, a $17 Watch etc. etc. Tidbits I like from around the internet LAUREL PANTIN JAN 21 I’m still on my shopping fast (I’m making it pretty easily through January, let’s see how I do in Feb when I’m in NY for Fashion Week. That always makes me feel a little…..spendy) so here are some things I wish I could buy but I’m not going to. A GREAT CLARE V. NECKLACE I recently saw my very beautiful pal Heather Taylor wearing this necklace at the Brentwood Country Mart. I fawned over it - it’s silver round beads, strung together by a chocolate brown string, with a cool little carabiner-inspired double clasp, so you could hang charms off of it. Clare V’s team very kindly sent me one, and I haven’t taken it off since. Clare V, $105 FUZZY SLIPPERS Lately it’s been very chilly in LA, and our house has concrete floors, so our floors are extra chilly. I’ve been wearing shearling slippers the whole time I’m home lately, and switching between these LL Bean classics on the left, and these shearling clogs from Ancient Greek Sandals on the right. The LL Bean can only really be worn indoors since they don’t have a proper sole, just leather, but the AGS’s have a real sole, and have been excellent both in the house, and on school runs. They’re also a little less ubiquitous than Birks, which makes me love them more. LL Bean slippers, $99 ; Ancient Greek Sandals clogs, $495 A VERY SEXY CARDIGAN A very slinky cardigan with very tiny buttons that looks great without a bra (if you have a small chest) or open enough to see a heaving bosom (if you’re blessed with a bosom). I love it so much - it has a very minimal 90s vibe, but can easily be maximalized with a colorful turtleneck underneath, printed pants, etc. Doen, $278 A PREDICTION FOR THE COLOR OF NEXT SEASON If this winter was defined by cherry red, I suspect next might trend towards this rich sky blue. I’ve been watching the men’s shows (look out later this week for my favorite styling ideas from those) and this specific hue is everywhere in bright, strategic pops. I love it most in this super vivid iteration, (honestly though I’m still stuck on Yves Klein cobalt) and it actually pairs very beautifully with cherry red, so you definitely should not chuck out your reds. I honestly love the idea of socks in this color with matching leather ballet flats in the same, or similar hue. Comme Si socks, $30 ; Margaux flats, $245 ; Vibi Venezia, $155 ; Victoria Beckham on sale, $665 (was $950) THE PERFECT WATCH! I have more to say about this, and I will say more about this, but I’ve been on a watch journey lately. The one thing I have allowed myself on my shopping fast is this neat little Casio watch for ~$17. It does everything I need, and is very much in line with my look (Beethoven’s Dad / 80’s computer programmer) and I love it so much. It has improved the quality of my life. Casio, $17 THE! NEXT LOAFERS Another prediction - these Row loafers. They have a sporty sole, a minimal upper, and an overall sleekness that I find completely perfect. The Row, $1,190 AN EXCELLENT TEE I wrote about this this week in my letter about styling tricky things, but it really is so good. It’s mega soft, the right amount of stretch and drape, I’ve barely taken it off. I have a small collection of mediocre navy tees, and this one is the first I’ve had that is truly outstanding. I cannot recommend the fabric and fit highly enough for a sexy, slinky, but not tight tee (which is just one of many very specific categories of tees, eventually I’ll do an updated deep dive on tee shirts). La Ligne, $95 BEETHOVEN DAD GLASSES As part of my Connecticut man look, I need a pair of tortoise shell plastic aviators. I want these. Victoria Beckham, $225 BANG FOR YOUR BUCK EARRINGS Tory Burch! At it again with excellent jewelry. I love these giant crystal earrings - they have an art lady vibe and would look lovely with a middle part and a low pony. They’re a LOT of look for not too too much spend. Tory Burch, $298 With that, ciao for now! Braces help straighten teeth but are notoriously expensive — even more so if you don’t have dental insurance.
