Today’s featured tech tip… How to create a Desktop shortcut to the Device Manager on Windows Many of the tips I share involve the use of Windows' handy Device Manager tool. There are several easy ways to launch the Device Manager, but my friend Steve K. thought it might be a good idea to explain how to create a shortcut for launching it directly from the Desktop. So here you go... 1 - Right-click on a blank section of the Desktop and select New>Shortcut from the context menu. 2 - Paste the following into the "Location" field": devmgmt.msc 3 - Click Next. 4 - Type Device Manager into the "Name" field, then click Finish. That's all there is to it. You now have a handy Desktop shortcut that will immediately launch the Device Manager without having to navigate any menus or doing any type of search.
