Ben hij blysced of wich þe wickednesses ben for-ȝeuen and of which þe synnes ben hed.¹
Blisced be þe man to whom our Lord aretted nouȝt synne, ne gilery nys nouȝt in his gost.
For ich held me stylle; my bones wexen olde, þer-whyles þat ich cried alday.
For þyn honde ys greued vp me day and nyȝt; ich am turned in my chaitifte, þer-whiles þat vices ben ficched in me.
Ich made myn trespas knowen to þe, and ich ne hid nouȝt myn vnryȝtfulnesses.
Ich seid, Y shal shryue oȝayns me myn vnryȝtfulnesse to our Lord; and þou for-ȝaf þe wickednesse of myn synne.
For-þy shal ich an halwe praie to þe in couenable tyme.
For-soþe hij ne shal nouȝt come nere hym in þe gaderyng of mani synnes.
Þou art my refuit fram þe tribulacioun þat cumpassed me; my gladnesse de-liuere me fram hem þat conpassen me wyþ iuel.
Y shal heue [read: ȝeue] to þe vnderstondyng, seid our Lord, and y shal en-fourme þe, and y shal fasten vp þe myn eȝen in þat wai þatou shalt gon.
Willeþ ȝe nouȝt, mennes sones, ben made as horses and mule, to which vnderstondyng nis nouȝt.
Constreingne her cheken in bernache and bridel, Lord, þat ne neȝed nouȝt to þe.
Mani tourmentes ben of synȝers; and mercy shal cumpassen þe hopand in our Lord.
Gladeþ, ȝe ryȝtful in our Lord, and beþ ioyful and glorieþ, ȝe alle riȝtful of hert.
