The Saturday Group Text, #17 A new loafer obsession, Michelle Armas for Anthropologie, the bookish Substack I'm loving, and more. JAN 27
Happy Saturday. Weekend Reading is up on The Stripe. This week’s list is a good one. Some thoughtful perspective on why you should think twice before taking that top “dream” job. The menu trends that are influencing dining right now. Chilling thrillers to read this winter. A few stunning home tours and reno projects. The best drugstore beauty products. Shopping finds. Loads and loads of recipes (I especially loved an entire post full of single-serving recipes). And more - head over and read the post.
Thank you for reading Grace’s Substack. This post is public so feel free to share it.
A really, really good under $50 moisturizer.
A lot of products (especially moisturizers, this time of year) come across my desk and it takes a lot to impress me. This moisturizer knocked my socks off. It isn’t Augustinus Bader, but it’s also not $280. It’s super rich and hydrating and gives you that gorgeous dewy look, plus it has peptides and plant-based retinol. So, besides all that hydration it also helps to lift, firm, and fade the look of wrinkles. Perfect for my fellow dry skinned girls at a wallet-friendly price!
The New Boden Loafers.
It is no secret that I love my Boden loafers. The oversized gold buckle is just perfect; I have them in tan and red. Well. I might like the new stitched version even better. I may be off here but I’m getting some big Loro Piana vibes? I would not allow myself to purchase a second pair of tan Boden loafers but I did spring for the navy.
Sizing! I am a true US 8.5 or 39 with narrow feet and the 39 in these fits perfectly.
A new(ish) Bookish Substack
My friend Jess Gravessent me this Substack a few weeks ago with just the caption, “A new must!” I was instantly psyched: I follow a lot of fashion folks here but fewer bookish ones. Extracurricular by Tembe Denton-Hurst (the author of Homebodies; presently at the top of my TBR pile). Her book recs (and longer reviews) are fantastic. Of her best books of the year list, I ordered five (I had already bought two). I just finished reading What Napoleon Could Not Do on her rec and it was excellent.
Michelle Armas at Anthropologie!
Michelle Armas is one of my favorite artists (I LOVE her work and have one of her original pieces) and I actually screamed when I saw that she teamed up with Anthropologie to design a print for this skirt. I have never hit order so quickly. There was a shirt as well but it doesn’t seem to be on the website anymore.
What I Watched This Week:
(this was more of a reading week and I was out more than usual)
Movies:
I watched Nest on Netflix. It was showing in new releases. Jude Law? Carrie Coon? Yes please! It was positioned as a thriller but truthfully it was boring and depressing. Skip it!
TV:
I watched the first three episodes of Funny Woman (PBS, via Amazon Prime); it's entertaining so far. Set in the sixties. A small town beauty queen heads to London to take on the male dominated world of comedy.
