This is how you address 'gun violence'

The push to combat so-called gun violence bugs me. It’s not that I think violent crime committed with a firearm is a good thing. It’s that it somehow pretends that being murdered with a knife is less bad than being shot and killed. As someone who has actually lost someone they cared about to a gunshot—in a mass shooting, as a matter of fact—I can assure you, I wouldn’t have felt better if she’d been beaten.
