I'd Like to Thank the Academy... Happy News, 2024 Word Update, How to Read for FREE, and So Many Cozy Mysteries... FEB 1
You might remember that my word for the year is balance. I want more balance between work and life, healthy habits and indulging, and the list goes on.
In January, I read 10 books and wrote more in that thirty-one days than I did in the final quarter of 2023. 1800+ of those words were written between midnight and four o’clock last night (or this morning, if we’re being technical).
When the television in my office is on, I am less productive. The balance here is to listen to the radio for background noise and leave the television off. Of course, this means it’ll take me forever to finish binging Jane the Virgin, but the show is cute, so I don’t mind dragging it out a bit.
Overall, my attempt to balance things is working, though. How’s your word for 2024 working out? If you haven’t picked one, there’s still time!
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
A few days ago, I learned I was the winner of AutoCrit’s Start Strong Writing Challenge. You can read my entry right here on Substack next Monday—or you can join Ream (which is FREE) to read it right now. AutoCrit has a free plan, and while most of you might know that free is my favorite F-word (okay, maybe second-favorite, because french fries are a thing—minds out of gutters, people!), the pro plan offers so much more, like an Accountability Club, genre-based forums, and writing contests.
Since joining AutoCrit, I’m more productive. My writing quality has improved. And I’ve met awesome people who I otherwise might not have had the opportunity to know. If you’re ready to take the next step with your writing, click the button below to learn how AutoCrit can help you level up!

What’s this Ream thing anyway?
Click here to join Ream today: https://reamstories.com/authorbeckymuth
Ream is a subscription based service, like Facebook (which is also free) or Netflix (with optional subscriber tiers). Followers can read a lot of content (like the Magical Mocha Latte and the aforementioned short story contest winner) for free.
Subscribers can read along as I write works in progress, like Mr. Whiskers’ Fortune (a paranormal cozy mystery with a cat who speaks French) and Myrtle Beach Melodies (a sweet contemporary romance).
It’s content that won’t likely find its way to social media, Substack, or any other platform. Click the button below to visit my Ream page where you can follow and learn more about what benefits subscribers receive.

If you’d like to add more cozies to your TBR list, click the button below to get books from authors like Rosemary Johns, Karen McSpade, and Rowan Dillon. And, of course, the first three books in the Haunted Housekeeping series from yours truly!

That's all for now. I hope your day is filled with books and coffee (or whatever it is that you put in your favorite mug). Have a great weekend!
Until next time,
Becky
